Choose a novel that you have read in the past month, or that you are currently reading and will finish soon. You may not choose a book that we have read together in class.
Fold paper (11″ x 17″) into an 8 sided booklet, the way that I showed you in class, or using this video to help you . You may use portrait or landscape layout when completing your book report.
Page 1, Cover Page: The cover page will have the book title, the author, the illustrator if there is one, and your name. It should also have a drawing which should be your own creation, it doesn’t have to be the same as actual book.
Page 2, Character(s): Inside the cover: This page should talk about the main character(s) and perhaps one other character. Describe what you know about their personalities, some of their strengths or challenges, etc.
Page 3, Setting: This page describes the setting of the book. Where and when does the book take place? What is the mood? What does the setting look like, smell like, feel like, etc. It should include an illustration and description of the mood.
Pages 4 and 5, Plot : Describes the main plot points of the story. What actually happens? Describe the climax of the story, if there is one? How is the problem resolved? This should be the centre-fold of the booklet. You can use a plot diagram (that looks like a mountain) to help you, if you wish.
Page 6, Theme / Moral: What is the big message behind this story? Describe and give examples.
Page 7, Illustration of Important Moment: On this page, draw a picture with a caption of your favourite part of the story, or a part of the story that you think is important or made an impression on you. Don’t forget the caption!
Page 8, Opinion: This is the back cover of the booklet. This page is where you tell us your opinion of the story. What did you like about the story and not like about the story? Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not? You may use a star system as a part of this page, if you like.
