Ancient Civilizations Project
Important Information:
- This is a small group project (2 to 3 members),
- This project will be completed during school time as much as possible
- Books and trusted internet sources may be used
- School books will remain in the classroom so they can be shared
- Students may go to the public library to source their own materials if they wish
Choose one of the following Ancient Civilizations to learn about and talk with me about it. Please note that a maximum of two groups per topic is allowed:
- Ancient China
- Ancient Egypt
- Ancient Greece
- Ancient India
- Ancient Iran
- Ancient Japan
- Ancient Aztec
- Ancient Mayan
- Ancient Mesopotamia
- Ancient Rome
If you have another ancient civilization idea, please come to talk with me about it.
Topics to include in the project:
- Beginnings of the Ancient Civilization (when, where, why)
- Daily Life for average people
- Arts / Culture
- Communication
- Belief Systems
- Government / Organization
- Technology / Inventions
- Trade / Commerce
- Downfall of the Ancient Civilization (why)
- A Timeline (when did this ancient civilization exist in comparison to others?)
- Interesting facts (optional)
- References of all books and websites used
Notes:
You will hand in your notes before you work on your presentation. You will list the source at the top of the page and write notes in your own words explaining what you learned from that source.
Demonstrating Learning:
Groups will present their learning to the class. Please choose from the following presentation methods:
- Speech with visuals
- Slideshow
- Video
- Podcast
- Poster
- Booklet, detailed with at least 10 pages
Please note that all groups must stand and present/share their work, even if they create a poster or booklet.
